"Hi! I’m Amaris (uh-mare-is) Cazares.
I was born and raised in Wenatchee, moved to Los Angeles in 2016 to attend UCLA, and returned home during the pandemic. I earned my B.S. in Biochemistry from UCLA (go Bruins!), where I served on the board of a pre-med queer health organization focused on identifying and dismantling the barriers queer youth face in accessing healthcare. This early experience taught me the power of advocacy, community, and amplifying voices that are too often overlooked. My background in social media and marketing has been a thread throughout my professional and volunteer work, helping me connect with communities in creative and meaningful ways. At Wenatchee Pride, I served as Social Media Coordinator, where I proactively addressed issues of racism and worked to bridge language gaps between the Hispanic and 2SLGBTQ+ communities. I currently serve on the YWCA Board of Directors and the Wenatchee for Immigrant Justice Committee, where I am excited to align these missions to uplift BIPOC, immigrant, and disabled communities. Across all of these roles, I aim to combine empathy, strategy, and a bit of spunk to create real impact.
Living with invisible disabilities has given me firsthand insight into the challenges of navigating healthcare and other systems, and I am passionate about helping others navigate these same hurdles with dignity, support, and advocacy. I bring to this board not only professional skills and experience but also lived experience, curiosity, and a commitment to equity and care.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me skiing, snowboarding, hiking, or baking gluten-free pastries. My cat, Apple (an influencer in training) keeps life playful and grounded. I’m thrilled to contribute my energy, heart, and ideas to this board and to support young people, immigrants, and those with disabilities in our community."
